Our washer is brand new, a GE, and when the cycle stops water continues to drip into the tub. I guess the valve could be bad? any thoughts, it's so frustrating. I may just call GE repair however, I hate to have a brand new washing machine that has already had to be repaired.

If it's brandnew, I would suggest to call them for warranty repair if the warranty is still valid. These fix, if turns out needed, is not too intrusive (unlike those nasty case such as, for examples, re-routing a water pipe of your brandnew recently-built house) and should not make any difference on your washer after the fix is complete.
