Seems every time I use my GoProBlack after a period of time, I have to pair my GoPro again as the wifi won't connect. To pair again, go to your Bluetooth settings and "forget this Bluetooth device", yes, Bluetooth, not wifi. After this reset, you can pair the camera with the GoPro App. I've missed so many lovely opportunities having to go through this hassle every time. Worse when I've mounted the camera out of reach and have to start all over again and again and again. Miserable when I mount the camera on the truck as it seems to have a sensor that knows you have pulled into traffic and can't stop for a eleventh try. Never buy a GoPro again!!!

I have a GoPro Hero 3 Silver Edition on my DJI F450 Quadrocopter.

I bought it as spares and rebuild it from 2 different faulty GoPros.

It is working flawlessly except:

-No sound in videos. Sometimes it makes a crispy distortion sound for 1 second.

-WiFi turns on (blue LED blinking, no broadcast)

I have 2 other faulty GoPros. One has a burnt SoC IC due to swapped polarisation at the USB port by the pre-owner. The other one just won 't turn on, maybe due to water damage or a crash.

My thought is to unsolder the WiFi IC from my working one with hot air and replace it with a one from the spare PCBs. Do you think it will fix the WiFi issue?

So how about the sound error? Do you think the fault is inside the SoC IC?

Your help is appreciated.

Best regards,

Tolga

Did it stop working suddenly, or are you pairing it for the first time?

If the GoPro had heavy impact there could be internal damage, but I would try this first:

Update your Hero3 to the lastest firmware:

http://gopro.com/update/HERO3

Next follow these instructions to pair your GoPro with your device: https://gopro.com/support/articles/gopro...

Section 1:

Wi-Fi Network Can't be Found in Phone/Tablet

If the camera's Wi-Fi network can't be found in the phone/tablet's wireless settings menu, follow these steps:

Turn off/on the phone/tablet's Wi-Fi.

Power off/on the camera.

Make sure the camera is in GoPro App or Phone/Tablet or mode and that you see a Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right corner of the camera's screen.

Try to connect to the Wi-Fi network with the phone/tablet.

If the network is not present in the phone/tablet's list, try another phone/table if possible.

Redo the software update.

Section 2:

GoPro App Shows CONNECT YOUR CAMERA Message

If the GoPro App shows "CONNECT YOUR CAMERA", this means that your phone or tablet is not connected to the camera's network. Follow these instructions to resolve the issue.

My Hero3 White did come up on my wifi list. Then I updated it per above instructions...now nothing shows up. No way to go backwards?
