Its hard to decipher what you mean by hold the charge, but from what I understand, the power cable doesn't always provide power to the computer, even if its plugged in.
This could be the result of either a faulty power cable or a faulty DC-in port. To test whether or not its the power cable, borrow a friends power cable (for the same laptop) and see if it solves the problem.
Most likely the port is worn and the connections are faulty. This can be a result of dropping the computer or just having lots of stress placed on the power cable. Without knowing the specific model of laptop, I can't point exactly where you need to go, however parts stores such as this one could help you out.

Is it easy to replace faulty DC-in port, please explain how?
Thank you.

Also, it is possible that the DC-in port is integrated to the logic board, which would mean that you either need to replace the logic board, or solder on a new port.
Currently, iFixit does not have any guides for Samsung laptops, and I do not want to give you incorrect information without properly knowing which device you are working on. If you provide the model number of the computer in question, we might be able to make an educated guess regarding the DC-in port replacement.
Then either your charger cable has a short or your dc jack on your laptop is loose and needs to be replaced.

The Computer is Samsung R510, I had to order a new charher unit which is not origian. Do you think it is the charger causing a problem.
