My ipod fell and the screen broke more than it already was...mainly from the top of the screen where the glass no longer exists... My question is will a new screen be enough to fix the problem or is it much harder than that. Thank you

Yes it should be all you need. As long as the frame or mid plate aren't bent.

It is a difficult repair if you don't no what your doing more difficult than an iPhone and if the corners are bent they will need reshaped so the new screen will fit
