Extra sata port on logic board

Hello,

I'm wanting to install a ssd in addition to my hhd and i would like to hopefully do so without installing it in place of the optical bay (see to many reports that the ssd under performs in the optical bay on this model.) I see numerous post on doing this with the 27" and newer model 21.5" using the extra sata port on the logic board and sicking it behind the optical drive but i don't see any reference to this extra port being on the 21.5 from 2009. Can anyone verify this?

Nope not possible in this series :-{

I would look at the SSHD hybrid drives. Seagate & WD both make them for Desktops (3.5"). These drives give you the speed bump of a SSD but also had the storage space of a HD. Just make sure your get SATA II (3.0 Gb/) drive and make sure your firmware is upto date.
