display is showing vertical lines

My screen is showing vertical lines on some portion on middle area, it's a thick line with multi coloured lines.

External display is working fine. Can some one confirm what the is problem it might? Could it be the LVDS cable or screen?

Sadly, your LCD screen is damaged.

You likely got a good hit on the lid dislodging the driver logic from the back side of the display assembly.

Here's the IFIXIT guide on replacing the display assembly: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Early 2011 Display Replacement

While you could replace the LCD screen alone, I think you'll find replacing the complete lid a lot easier.

Did you replace the display? And how did you do it? Did you follow the IFIXIT guide not jumping over any steps?
