Why doesn't it spin at the end of the rinse cycle?

The machine washers and spins at the end of the wash cycle but doesn't spin after it drains the rinse cycle, it just ends leaving the clothes wet. I read it might be related to the water level control but not sure.

My washer wasn't draining or spinning. I have a Kenmore 80. I discovered the lid switch was bad. Now it drains perfectly but won't spin on its own after the rinse cycle. I have to turn the dial back to spin and pull out. Then it works. What could be the cause?

In the case of our Kenmore washer, it was one of the contacts in the timer. Replaced the timer to remedy the problem.

First do a Master Reset. To perform the Master Reset, carefully unplug the washing machine from the power outlet and leave it unplugged for one minute. After one minute is up, plug the washer cord back into the wall. Next, open and close the door of the washing machine 6 times within 12 seconds to send a “reset” signal to all the components. (This is a common fix that many appliance repair mechanics use – it works on about 50% of all washing machines.) Once the reset has been completed set the washer to do a small load with no clothes in the washer. See if the washer goes through with the cycle as normal. If the washer performs correctly, then it has been reset and is fixed.

Is the machine completely going through the spin cycle at the end of the wash?

I'm having the same problem, and the reset didn't change it. Agitator is working, water is draining, no spinning. It was moved recently, so perhaps something is dislodged?

Ok I believe have found the real reason and doesn’t have anything to do with master reset, lid switch, or motor coupling. But most likely due to the “motor control switch”. The switch allows the user to dial up the speed on agitate or spin or lower it. I especially found on the fast and fast setting the spin didn’t work on rinse cycle only. Set it to normal and I got spin. I will admit I really had to study the machine to figure out the problem. By the way I know my repair advice is 8 years late, but these machines are probably still in service cause they are just great machines.

Ok. Sounds like my issue. How do I replace the motor control switch? My washer will drain and spin the soapy water, but will only drain the rinse water and not complete the spin after that.

@fogdogs22 Cynthia, to answer you correctly, we need your model number so I can find the part. Thanks
