Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

How can I repair a foreign playstation that pulled too much power?

Hi guys, I'm from Australia and I ordered a Playstation 2 from America to play some games I got online which turned out to be American games. So naive me figured I could just use an adapter to plug in the American Playstation which seems to have completely fried the console. I since learned I would need a convertor so I spent some money on one yesterday and that's when I found out I'd fried the Playstation 2, any ideas on which parts may need to be replaced or fixed or how I can fix the Playstation if it's possible?

deansymons1993, without actually seeing the device etc. it is a bit difficult to really trouble shoot. I would suggest that you start with the power board. Check the fuses as well as the caps on the board and see what you find. Use this guide to work on it. Hope this helps, good luck.
