Lenovo Ideapad z500 backlit transmitter damaged while dissembling

Hi there.

I was dissembling my lenovo ideapad z500 and while I was unplugging the cable of backlight attached to keyboard, I did a terrible mistake and turned on the laptop.

Then I felt the smell of burning, and the laptop turned off automatically.

Then I restarted it and guess what?

no more backlit :(

Everything is fine, keyboard is working. I guess I have to change the piece on circuit.

Any Ideas?

How much would it cost?

Can I do it myself?

Have you checked the logic board to see if any of the components looks burned etc.?

No, but I guess everything is fine because I couldn't turn on the laptop if any other components were damaged. Everything is good but when I press Fn + space, no lights :(. What is the name of the port where the cable connects. I'll check the keyboard with multi meter If I could but I'm sure the smell was from board.

:-) but if your keyboard backlight does not work, then "everything is fine because" is most likely not right. I was more thinknig about a FET or LED driver that has shorted out.

Ali Padida, here is the schematic for your Keyboard Backlight. Check with a multimeter for proper DC Voltage on pin 4and 3(+) the rest is ground (-). Check transistor Q154.
