Why do coffee grounds keep showing up in my brewed coffee?

Almost every morning, i get a nice mouthful of coffee grounds when i get towards the bottom of the pot. What is the easiest way to eliminate this issue without buying a new coffee maker?

We have a Black and Decker drip coffee maker. We have found that if we don't push the top down tight, the water filling up the basket will push the top up and the basket will overflow. We put something heavy on the top and we haven't seen any grounds in the coffee since.

A lot of times, this is caused by the paper filter not sitting in the coffee maker correctly. The easiest way to fix this is to buy a reusable filter. The reusable ones don't ever have issues like this. If you don't want to do this, I was always told to flip the paper filter inside out before installing in which helps it stick to the walls of the basket.

I fold mine on the two sides so the seam is flush with the cone wall. When you fill the cone make sure it is smooth against the wall of the holder. Lastly, don't wait to long placing the carafe underneath as the water level can rise above the filter cone with the grounds leaking over to the clean side of the filter which then enters into the brewed coffee.

I have been using the same filters forever!!! It doesn't fold down and used to always work. Lately, the filter basket is overflowing somewhat and I am getting grounds in the coffee pot.

I have a reusable coffee filter and I am having this issue. Ive cleaned the pot, made sure the valve is clear and working, and still can't figure this out. I would definitely not say reusable filters are the 100% solution, but they are handy.
