Remove Harddrive (Standard macmini 2010)

Do i have to remove the logicboard to remove the harddrive?

Looking at step 12 (page) of the tear down, the 2nd picture, with the color coded squares, you can see tabs/guides on the harddrive bracket that kept it secured in place.

Then, from step 14 (page 2) it looks like the RAM sockets are in the way, so it does appear that you do have to pull the logic board out, at least partially, if not completely.

I took it out without removing the logic board. But I would not recommend it. You will at least scratch the black protective plastic that is around it if you do.

I did get it out without pulling the logic board. It was a bit tight, but doable. I would not go so far as to not recommend it, but it would be easier if the logic board is at least partially out. It was a tight squeeze.

I did remove the RAM, the fan and the wireless antenna.

I did it this way because I was not able to make my "magic tool" work. Try as I might, the logic board did not move. Need more details on what is supposed to happen with the magic tool.
