I looked under the stand, it is a Model A1173. I bought it without the LCD so I don't know the original LCD model. Seller said the old LCD was defective. He also gave me the inverter and brackets already disconnected from the unit. The video cable pins fit the socket at the back of the new replacement LCD assembly, but I'm afraid to power it on as the thing might burn up if it turns out the are not compatible with each other.

If the connector fits, you can give it a try. If it does not work :-) it will not ruin your LCD, it just will not work:-)

Well,I connected the LVDS cable to the new LCD, and the thing won't power up. I get a twitch of the main fan, then nada. Removed the LCD,and it powers up again.

Bernie, the very first thing I know about this panel is that it would fit a Dell XPS M170. This panel is also compatible with the Unimac V4 adapter, which in turn would mean that it is not a direct replacement, but would require mods to work The better question for you to ask would be which LCD will fit your iMac. For that you would have to provide more information about your iMac. i.e. serial number to properly identify. Also, a number of LCD panel would greatly help as well.

Update

based on your A1173 it looks like you have these specs:"1.83 GHz Core Duo (T2400)

Intro Date: January 10, 2006 Disc Date: September 6, 2006

Order No: MA199LL Model No: A1173 (EMC 2104)

Subfamily: Early 2006 Model ID: iMac4,1

Std RAM: 512 MB Std VRAM: 128 MB

Std Storage: 160.0 GB (7200 RPM) Std Optical: 8X DL "SuperDrive"" do they look right? If they do, your LCD panel has Apple part number 661-4020 and any of the 2006 will fit. iMac 17" 1.83GHz Core 2 Duo (A1195) - Mid 2006,

iMac 17" 1.83GHz Core Duo (A1173) - Early 2006,

iMac 17" 2.0GHz Core 2 Duo (A1208) - Mid 2006,

iMac 17" 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo (A1208) - Mid 2006,

The LCD panel used for that model is made Phillips and is either a LM171W02 or a LM171W02-TLB1
