Home button not working

I took apart an Iphone 5c. I took everything out but the lightining dock connector. I had to replace the volume/sound flex cable everything is working fine but I have tried to diferent home buttons and 2 different screens and the home button does not work. The iphone 5c has two gold ground caps one goes to the top of the phone that grounds the upper part of the motherboard, I still don't know where the other ground cap goes, so I was thinking maybe this other missing ground cap could be causing the issue. Thanks

Answer this question I have this problem too

Resolved!!!!

I had similar issue after replacing the battery. I ordered a new button and ribbon, replaced them and still nothing. Then I realized that it had nothing to do with the button or ribbon. I created the problem when prying the battery out.

There are two silver prongs that make contact with the flex cable to make the button work. When prying the battery out, I bent one of them out of position. Gentle twist with a small screwdriver and it is working again (I had to try it couple of time because I didn't want to break the prong).

If you have tried to home flex cables and it's not working try prying up the to gold contacts on the dock connector that is were the home button gets it power from.. If it still doesn't work after that then try replacing dock
