touch erratic in places after replacing LCD

I've replaced iphone 4 and 5 with new original LCD panels and after replacing, both have unresponsive areas on the touch LCD where nothing happens.

Also, without touching the screen at all the LCD responds and clicks in random places when hovering your finger over the screen.

I didn't use any windex cleaner on the metal to metal contacts when replacing, or haven't cleaned the touch screen after.

Any advice or similar symptoms?
