it could be a power supply issue , remove the power supply , and then test it and if it doesnt work, that is the problem... there are special power supply testers for this...

Open the case, examine the capacitors under the fan cpu fan shroud. If they are not flat and/or showing a reddish/orange color on top, the capacitors blew up. This is not an item that can be fixed in a cost effective manner.

Replacing the all 7 of the 2200uF 6.3V capacitors, if any show either swelling or leakage (tops should be flat and shiny, no cracks along the score marks) isn't that expensive or difficult. Parts from DigiKey (493-6909-ND) are less than $7 plus shipping ($3 if you're not in a rush). Takes 30 to 45 minutes to disassemble the machine, unsolder the old caps, remove excess solder, install new, resolder, and reassemble. If you have a decent soldering iron for electronics (not plumbing), good light, and fair eyes, it can be done.

Just did 3 machines yesterday for a customer who uses them on a factory shop floor where their tolerance for environmental abuse makes them perfect. Far cheaper than new machines that aren't as solidly built.
