Start Button not working

Hi

I have a SEGA Game Gear with an unresponsive start button. I have cleaned the point on the circuit board with electrical contact cleaner and I have washed and dried the button and its membrane but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what I can do to repair it?

Options

Try taking a 2HB pencil over the pad on the membrane to redeposit graphite. If that doesn't work, try looking at the start button's electrical traces to see if there's a break. If there is, you're gonna have to sand and solder in a bypass to make it work again.
