Keyboard and track pad unresponsive except power button

I would like to find out if there is any way i can somehow test the individual components without another air 11 or replacing the parts, which are costly.

Are there any points i can bridge between the keyboard and the logic board to get some sort of a response on the screen. I would like to do this to identify where the exact problem is.

I am able to use the power button on the keyboard and everything else has been tested with the use of an external keyboard and mouse.

However before i go ahead and start purchasing spares i would like to know how to identify where the issue is.

The most important test i would like to perform is on the logic board as to whether a new top cover assembly can even be of use.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

To be clear here: Your system is working (using an external keyboard & mouse) but the built-in keyboard & trackpad are not working.

yes, 100% functional other than the built in keyboard and mouse

If your system is working with an external keyboard & mouse then you have isolated the issue to the upper case and its connection point to the logic board.

I would carefully inspect the ribbon cable connection on the logic board making sure the logic board connector is not broken and the ribbon was correctly inserted. I would then inspect the ribbon cable for any damage and then I would look for any liquid damage within the upper case.

If the logic board and the ribbon cable are ok I would then try carefully plugging in a new upper case to see if the system worked with the replacement before trying to take the unit apart.

Sadly, there is not means of testing the logic board other than plugging in an upper case. Most of the time 85% or more the issue is the uppercase as someone has spilled a drink into it. The other possibility here is someone damaged the ribbon cable or the logic board connector.

what is the chance that the actual connector on the logic board is broken?

And is it possible that the track pad assembly might be at fault here.

Right now if I start the unit it goes into bluetooth assistant to connect an external keyboard and it says that no keyboard is connected.

Last question what other macbooks can i plug the top cover assembly into to see it it works?

by

The keyboard connection is via the trackpad (the trackpad cable carries both devices signals to the logic board). The keyboard backlight cable services the keyboards LED's only. So your issue could be at the trackpads connection point (liquid damage). As to what top case it should be the same models.

Have same problem with mac air 1369 after full disassemble. Only power key turn on/off mac. For me helped reattach ribbon cable for keyboard and ribbon cable of trackpad (both sides).
