Mackeeper may not be the best Mac disk otpimization software. The one has a bad reputation for creating unexpected troubles on the OS X.

I suggest you read some reviews of Mackeeper before using it.

I once installed this on my Mac and found it tricky. Also it was bit difficult to uninstall this app.

If you have trouble uninstalling it then this guide will help you http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/ho...

Also, If you want to optimize Mac drive then there are no. of good software.

I had good experience with below:

Stellar Speedup Mac

Clean my Mac

The above are reliable for Mac Mini Mavericks & lower versions.

Here's a write up on it: Is MacKeeper really a Scam?.

Here's someone testing of it: appleserialnumberinfo

While many have praised it, I do worry a bit here on some companies tactics (not Zeobit alone here).

We are getting a bit Orwellian with many companies policies (just look at Facebook and Twitter). Do you want their prying into your stuff and what you do online feeding someone else's desires or pocket as well as expose you? I would stay away from MacKeeper and other apps like it.

60 Minutes (a Sunday news show here in the states) did a segment a few weeks ago on what information you are giving away just by visiting a web site. I was shocked how much of our actions are being monitored and sold.

How far are you going to allow companies into your system mining what you download or write? What is the limit here?

FYI - MacKeeper is technically not open sourced. It just is marketed in that sector. You still need to pay for it.

For me, I'd get rid of it right away. I've seen it tank too many hard drives, and cause so many other issues that I'd never trust it with any of my computers. I'm not saying that is doesn't provide some benefit, but in my experience, that benefit is small, and not worth the cost. Macs in general are pretty good at keeping themselves optimized.

You know if you will do some research you will find that Mackeeper has implemented tons of marketing strategies. For Instance, they have huge fan following on facebook.com. Their site is well-designed with customer feedback & testimonials. However, when it comes to software they will force you download & install via several unethical channels like ads etc. If you google 'MACKEEPER' and you will mostly find negative search results ranking.
