Toshiba Laptop (Qosmio) CD ROM tray not ejecting

Several months back, my laptop stopped ejecting CD's put into it. A local computer repair man helped maniually pull out the tray. I also did the same several times with success at playing and removal of CD's. However, today, I am unable to manually remove or play any CD's. There is a CD in the tray that will neither be ejected nor played. It seems the computer itself is not recognizing the drive (there is no E drive on the list of drives). I hope you can help.

You have to replace the optical drive. You have abused it to it's death. You should still be able to use a paper-clip to unlock the drive tray and force it open to retrieve your CD...
