greg, the password is stored in NVRAM, not in the regular CMOS settings. Removing the battery will not remove your password. For that you can either contact Dell or use your service tag to get the password.

take the motherboard battery out, for like a minute or so. That will make the bios run out energy and will make you load bios defaults. you will need to set time and date correctly after that.

hello,i have the same problem and i took the bios battery for days but still asking for the pasword

The normal answer is to use service tag or administrator password...No answer for both even after trying F2 or F12. The 2 numbers on the back don't work.
