How do I fix intermittent colored vertical lines on replaced display?

After replacing the display I experience occasional vertical colored lines that fill the entire display then go away. Actually replaced the screen twice. Crimped the digitizer cable the first time. This time was very careful. Also pre-bent the cables at the perforations arround the shaft of a screwdriver to insure a radius bend. I am sure all the correct screws are in the correct locations. Was also cardfull to not over torque anything but the vibrator. When viewed on edge the screen doesn't seem to be seated perfectly. It is close but I can make out variations in gap along the edge.

Ok, when i got the phone back it was also doing some horizontal lines. So I stripped the phone back down. Found a couple of tiny slivers of glass embedded in the glue on the mid frame, cleaned and carefully seated everything. Used alcohol and lint free cloth. Felt a clear snap with each cable seating. Result: worse than before. Lines are mostly horizontal and are nearly constant. Interestingly some screens are clear others very problematic. Images seem to be the worst so it is almost a resolution thing. Solid basic colors are most clear but nothing is completely free. Actually just turned it back on and it quickly degenerates into a mass of vertical mostly grey vertical lines rendering the phone unusable. Help.
