Keyboard combability between A1211 and A1226?

I know this is perhaps a strange question to ask, but I sincerely hope you will answer.

Thing is, keyboard is dead on my A1211 after a spill. Trackpad is good. Before I go ahead and buy a replacement I have to say that a good friend of mine has a dead A1226 that I can strip. But it is in another country. But was wondering if you know whether an A1226 keyboard will fit on an A1211?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Unfortunately, the keyboard from the MacBook Pro Model A1226 is not cross-compatible with the MacBook Pro Model A1211.

How sure are you about this Matt Barnes? I am having the same dilemma, just about to buy an a1226 keyboard for an a1211. I know the topcase have a 2" difference in the location of the port, but just how about the keyboard alone, not the top case.

I am typing this on a A1211 with a A1226 keyboard. The difference is that the A1226 keyboard connector is designed to plug is further to the right of the machine, so the cable has to bend alittle. I just plugged it in and closed the case up, and its working great.

Hi Mike,

Did you replace the whole topcase or just the keyboard? It seems like less hassel, but not sure if the trackpad would work.
