Why won't my Asko W6231 Washing Machine Drum rotate?

The drum appears to be jammed. I cannot rotate it by hand. There is power to the unit and I can start a cycle - water will enter and drain OK but the drum will not rotate and the cycle then stops after about a minute or two of trying. The door opens OK.

Hey mate, there could be something strong, stuck between the inner drum and outer tub, of the washing machine. It could also be the bearings have seized up. If something has jammed inside, you probably be able to see damage to the drum. Visually inspect all the way around the drum. If your washing machine has been noisy for some time, before this, the bearings may have collapsed. There is also a potential for it to be a seized motor, as if the motor wont rotate, and the drive belt is still attached, it will stop the drum from rotating.

I hope this helps you
