Hinge broke off from screen

Hi,

I see how to replace a hinge, but it doesn't appear that the hinge is broken. It looks like the hinge broke off from the LCD screen. Here is a pic, I hope this works... https://www.dropbox.com/s/2nlkg36332yrxr...

My brother-in-law gave me this to try to fix after my niece with autism was a little rough with it. I was going to order new hinges and the clutch cover part, but I don't think that will help. The hinge broke off from the screen. I do not know what part that would be and I can't find a way to replace it. I am guessing that the whole display unit may need replaced.

Thanks for any advice or leads.

Hoz, hope your dutch is decent. Check on here

My dutch is non-existent! Thanks oldturkey03. I think I can do the steps necessary. However, I am trying to avoid replacing the whole display. I need to replace the part that the hinge connects to on the screen. The hinge itself seems fine, but it broke off from the display part. I don't know if just that part can be replaced or the whole display. The computer works fine.

I do not think that you will have to do that. It definitely looks like your hinge is broken, but if you look at how it mounts to the display, it appears like changing the hinges should work.

Hoz, hard to see until it is complete apart. right now it looks like the hinge is broken. I do not think that there is any further damage, but can not validate this until you have it totally apart. This part should fix it. As you can see on the attached image, the hinges are actually mounted further down the line.

Update

I still think its a broken hinge. If you follow the line ( I definitely stink at freehand drawing) to the right, you will find the screws that mount the rest of the hinge to the display.

I see what you mean. But, I "think" that the hinge has broken away from what it would connect to. I don't know if this shot shows it any better. https://www.dropbox.com/s/picv6ep3b0rocw... So, the hinge is still connected to the keyboard half of the laptop, and the piece that the the hinge would connect to on the display part is still in the hinge, but broken apart from the display. I am thinking if I replaced the hinge, there would be nothing for it to connect to on the display side. I don't know if I am explaining it well. I wish I had a better handle on what these parts are called.

Half a hinge is still connected, the other half is what broke:-)
