I want to install more RAM

Ok just to clearify I have the HP Envy i7 NVIDIA 12GB Ram.

I just have a question about upgrading memory RAM on my laptop. So I have an HP Envy i7 NVIDIA and when I open up task manager it says I have 4 cores and 8 logical processors. I don't know what the logical processors mean but if I have 4 cores, where can I find out how many slots I have left? And if I was to install more cores, can I just do a minimum of 1 core or do I need like an even number or 4 more? And if I did, what cores exactly would I need to purchase?

I think you have confused things a bit.

"Task manager it says I have 4 cores and 8 logical processors" This is the CPU which has four processing units (cores) and each of these cores can process two threads at the same time (logical cores) giving you 8 logical cores.

Most systems have two or four memory slots to hold the modules. You will need to give us the exact model of your Envy so we can tell you what your options are for RAM.
