I have run into this problem with the C710-2055 model, sometimes the hard drive cable that attaches to the motherboard loses its connection and by disconnecting and re-connecting the hard drive wires seems to solve the problem. the Hard drive housing on this model is not the greatest and the hard drive does tend to move around sometimes when it is bumped around, causing the wires to loose connection.
