My Galaxy Nexus shuts off when I shut the screen off?

It started doing this today after having trouble turning on. Now it just completely shuts down whenever I turn the display off. What can I do to fix this?

It may be that the phone has a bad unit. A way this can be tackled is by trying to factory reset your phone. This may solve the issue.

If not i would advice you to take it to the store you got it from as they should swap the phone for a new Samsung galaxy nexus.
