runs through post flashes blue screen and shuts down
my pc runs through post and then flashes a blue screen and shuts down and then reboots itself and repeats the same process.

Tim, sounds like an OS error if it post fine. This could be a driver or corrupt config file, depends on your OS

I was still running vista on it
Try to boot into safe Mode and see what happens. Let us know
It won't boot in safe mode either
Do you have a restore disk or the original OS disk? try a repair and see if that works. If not then you could try to reinstall your OS
