Michaela Reynolds, first clean your dock connector with some isopropyl alcohol and a few puffs of compressed air. Check for any bend, broken or corroded pins. You also want to try a new cable and a different port, as well as a different computer if you have access to one. If that does not change anything, you want to remove iTunes completely and then reinstall. Do not forget to remove Quicktime as well as iCloud control panel. you also want to run the diagnostics, check here. The only other thing I can think of right now is that you check what apple suggest. Hope this helps, good luck.

This may be caused by an underpowered USB hub. If you are not already plugging your USB cable directly into your PC, try plugging it in to one of the USB ports on the PC itself.
