iPhone5 back house changing, can't turn on

After change the back house, when I push the power button to turn on, the screen show me need to charge the battery, but when I put charging cable to the mobile, the phone can turn on. But if I turn off the phone, and pull off the charging cable, the phone can't turn on again. What's the problem. Thanks

So phone only works when plugged in to wall charger?

Sounds like you need to replace the battery and it must have gotten damaged during removel
