What are steps to replace webcam

I bought a used computer without a webcam. I would like to take the webcam and monitor out of a non working computer and install into the working one. Are there any particular steps required?

Thanks for the service manual. I am sorry it took so long to get back to this. In your comment "Make sure that your logic board has the proper connector to support the built-in webcam. " , I have looked for and did not find a webcam plug on the board picture. Is it labeled by another name? I have a complete non working unit to remove the webcam from, but do not want to go into it without knowing every thing I should know.

otis, that depends on what computer you bought. If it has support for a camera on the mother board, it may be possible. If it does not, then you will have to use an external camera. It will help if you give us the model of computer that you have and the model of computer from where you want to transplant the camera and LCD.

Both computers are Acer Aspire 5100s. I need to know what steps to take in order to transfer the webcam and screen from one to the other.

Do you have the complete assembly for both, or just the LCD and webcam?

I added the service manual for your Acer to the device page. Scroll all the way down to Service Documents and click on the blue link to download the manual. Make sure that your logic board has the proper connector to support the built-in webcam.
