Internal battery not powering unit

The camera works fine when connected to a backpack battery or is being powered thru USB. But when it's just the battery installed in the camera, it receives no power - regardless of which battery is installed.

Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Ian, does this "regardless of which battery is installed." mean you tried a new battery? Have you checked the make sure the contacts are properly lined up?

Yes. I tried swapping the battery in the GoPro with the one in the backpack (the backpack, when installed, powers the unit) and it did not power up. The three battery contacts in the camera do not seem to be corroded or misaligned in any way. They line up fine with the slots in the battery.

My first guess is the battery connector is either damaged or has become slightly unsoldered. I would touch it up with some new solder first. If its not that then its probably circuitry related to whatever switches from battery power to ac power. Maybe a loose connection there, but re-soldering that is flirting with disaster if you ask me. I dunno maybe find one with a broken lens and replace the motherboard if you are feeling up to it, good luck
