Is battery 616-0551 compatible with 616-0553

I have an iPod Touch 32 GB 4th generation. I ordered a replacement battery and received a 616-0553 battery. When I got the old battery out, it is labeled as 616-0551.

The polarity markings on the battery (not the cable) are opposite from each other: on the front of the 616-0551 the minus (-) is in the upper left and the plus (+) is the upper right; on the front of the 616-0553 the minus (-) is in the upper right and the plus (+) is in the upper left.

The 616-0553 cable also has polarity markings. However, the 616-0551 cable does not appear to have any polarity markings.

Are these batteries compatible? In other words, is the 616-0553,an acceptable replacement for the 616-0551?
