I am replacing my home button but am missing a part.

hi i am repairing an old iphone i found in my friends shed, and i need to replace the home button, and when i looked at how to replace it i noticed the was a small black ring underneath the home button, what is that part called, because i dont have it and it looks wrong without it

i think you mean the mechanism underneath your black home plastic button ?

you have 2 layers...

1. The plastic button where you press

2. And a clickable button under it

it can fit only one way so look what way it wil fit

sometimes the "click"mechanism falls of the home button cable.. the silver round thing..

you will need a new home button then because you cant replace that with a new one
