I just replaced the headphone flap a few minutes ago. Use a typical hairpin (the blade should be flat enough and narrow enough) and gently insert it on the hook side of the tap. Then gently wiggle the flap while you pull, and it should come out.

To insert the new tap, use a pair of tweezers to grab the tap just about the hook. Push it down into the phone's slot but be gentle—otherwise, you might deform the tap. And, in it goes. The whole procedure took me maybe 5 minutes.

And yes, I raided my girlfriend's makeup box to source my tools!

You can find the USB flag replacement part at http://bit.ly/1gkWvhy .

I suggest you to back up some waterproofing flaps for your Xperia Z. They easily lost.

I need to replace the rubber seal on the charging flap cover, not the flap or cover, the rubber seal around the flap. How do I do it?

by

You can't simply replace just the seal. You can only buy the complete flap with the seal permanently attached to it. On my Z1 the seal of the Micro-USB port cover got loose and eventually completely fell off. I bought a new cover and replaced everything.

It's easy , but You need some special tool - thin flat dull blade. I used cooper wire. I flatten it with hammer. You have to push it inside along white belt , from this side where is small hook on the end . In this case it's from other side then usb connector. When "blade" is inside (aprox. 2-3 mm) you can gently pull whole flap.

it certainly takes a few attempts and the thing no one seems to say is that you can't really tell that the flap is coming out until it kind of snaps out. Definitely going to go back to witrigs again should I need additional parts as they sell the parts in addition to giving you youtube guides on how to do the DIY help

I just did it right now and at first I tried a wire to pull off the flap, but ended up pulling it out without the use of any tool. Maybe this is risky (the flap's tie can break) bit it worked for me, just pull until it comes out. I did need a copper wire to push the new flap's tie into the device.

The tweezers really worked for me! Thanks for suggesting it. I almost got lost hope inserting the new flap. I attempted a second try with the use of tweezers and it really worked! Thank you so much! My USB flap port is sealed again! Now, I'm using magnetic charger in charging my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact! :D
