battery replacement doesn't work
I just replaced my iPhone 5 battery. It didn't power up, so I plugged in the charger and all I get the apple icon flashing on and off?
Is this a good question?

Either the battery isn't connected properly or you have a bad battery. Buy a battery from a trusted retailer and see if that works.

I had the same problem. the iPhone 5 I am trying to fix was dropped in water. I cleaned the connectors and it would come on only when plugged in but it would just keep flashing apple icon and then turning off and rebooting.
I tested a battery in it from a known working iphone 5 and it did the same thing. I am wondering if we would need to replace the battery connector, which would be a pain. unless anyone has a better solution :D

I have a water damaged iphone 4, bought a replacement battery from ifixit and cleaned all the connectors, doesn't seem to have the same problem. But mine does boot completely, shows the "slide to unlock" with my wallpaper background, but isn't responsive at all regardless where I touch it. Power button and volume control are unresponsive along with the home key. Then usually shuts off after a few seconds. It is fun trying to fix this phone but I want to FIX it.

@ lesrave, it looks like your motherboard it really quite, water damaged! Try taking apart your phone, and soaking the motherboard in isopropyl alcohol for a while.
