Can I repair the inverter?

Is it possible to repair or obtain the inverter board for the Cinema Display?

Can you send the screen back to Asia where it was manufactured?

I can (just) see the digital information on the screen and the main output board seems OK.

I think it is the inverter which is attached to the back of the screen panel that has failed.

No you don't need to send the part all the way back to Asia.

I bought the unit with the fault... standard UK electricity . Can I buy the little logic board that is fitted to the back of the screen ? or repair it ...are there any circuits available, is that logic board specific to that display ? Peter

What exactly are you seeing when you say "I can (just) see the digital information"?

If you shine a torch at the screen you can see the digital imagec ,,, but thereis no backlight illumination

Looking at the logic board you should see a larger rectangle connector on the right edge marked converter. This is the connection for the screens LED back lights. Make sure your connection is firm and the wires are not damaged. If this looks OK the power services on the logic board for the LED's needs to be diagnosed at the circuit level which I will assume here you are not equipped to handle. You could just have a fuse link blown or it could be deeper.

First if you see an image (faint). Then the back light is having problems.

This display uses LED's so there is no inverter unlike the CFL displays. It does have some driver logic that could be bad.

Can you tell us what happened when you encountered this problem? And if you have your system & display connected to a surge suppressor or UPS.

I'm having a similar problem. I have a 2010 Cinema Display 27"

It's been working in a intermittent way for some time. First I thought it was the power supply and cord, I changed it and nothing happened. Still works depending on its mood.

When I plug the display I have no backlight. Everything else works fine (Audio and USB)

The strange thing here is that sometimes and just out of the blue the display works perfect even for 5 days in a row. I went out of the office for 2 days (macbook stayed connected) and now it doesn't work again.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

d
