CD Stuck iMac Dead Kind of piece blocking to try "manual"

Hi,

We have a iMac Intel 17" with no keyboard or mouse, well, we have general pc keyboard and mouse.

The Mac starts up, it seems to load but then nothing happens and a white screen stays forever.

We've tried to pull it out with tweezers but there is a kind of metal piece, like a small coin, in the middle of the entrance of the drive, so we cannot pull out anything.

We are trying to remove it to be able to start up the computer with a firmware recovery.. It is an old model and we are just curious about it, if not, we will just tear it apart to experiment :)

Thanks

Sounds like you'll need to pull off the display assembly and then carefully remove the optical drive to get the object removed.

Have you reviewed the IFIXIT guides Yet? Heres the one on how to remove the optical drive iMac 17" Optical Drive Replacement. In this case you may not need to replace the drive just repair it.
