usbs went out.how to change it

i brought a computer from a friend that had kds.and one usb worked and the other one is shot.are they easy to fix help

i tried plugin in a external hdd nothing flash drive nothing even plugin in my phone same.when ever i got the laptop for him my father .theres 2 usb ports one works or did.the other one has a piece that is broken off that i was about to fix but too latte
