Click wheel buttons not working

I replaced the battery in my 80GB video iPod and when I got it back together, the click wheel and button wouldn't work. I've run through all the reset procedures and still nothing. The screen comes on the screen with Music at the top and nothing happens with the click wheel. I've taken it apart again (several times) and all connections appear to be good, including the grounds.

When I hook it to the computer through Itunes I can play all the songs on the device, switching from music to books and back. But the click wheel is still dead.

Is there a way to check the click wheel or have I blown the logic board?

and before the disassembling the click wheel worked normally ?

²lee - were you be able to reset it (sorry to as that, but one time you wrote that it's dead and then you wrote that you resetted it)

I tried to reset it using the buttons and restoring using Itunes, the only difference is the screen now opens up to the language selection screen, but the buttons still don't work.
