Rear camera motherboard water damage what to do?

An Iphone 4 got drained by milk a couple of months ago.

I just let it dry out for a couple of days and afterwards removed the -horrendously smelling - milk restants from within the iphone. No damage to the enclosed parts was done after checking.

As for now everything seems to work again except for the rear facing camera and the LED flashlight. (Well the flash works sometimes in a flashlight program for a second and then turns off)

I've replaced the rear camera and LED flashlight with a new part but that did not fix it.

I believe it has something to do with the motherboard, a burned part on the circuitboard/motherboard. The part is indicated (on a clean motherboard) to show which parts are damaged.

These look like some capacitors or resistors? Does anyone have a clue?

Is there some way to repare this part? or what would happen if I would just shortcircuit this? Could this be a possible fix?

Are there any other options besides replacing the motherboard?

any other suggestions?

PS: front facing camera works fine, just hard to access through camera app (as it automatically asks for the rear camera first)...

Cesar Talpe, the area you marked actually contains four SMD components. I marked those as good as I could. The reference designators and descriptions are as follows:

C197 0.1UF 10% 6.3V NP0-C0G 01005

C171 1UF 6.3V 10% 402

C40 1UF 6.3V 10% 402

R124 100K 5% 1/32W MF 01005

I do want to give credit to the Apple engineers and would not believe that those parts serve no real purpose, therefore I would not recommend to just place jumpers across those. Proper replacement should solve your problems. Hope this helps, good luck.

Thank you for the detailed response!

I know the circuits and parts for iphone are hard to come by, so that's why I just wanted to ask if somebody knew what could happen if I did...

Any idea where I could find these specific parts maybe?

thanks Alot!

Cesar Talpe, I totally understand :-) and thank you for accepting my answer. All the parts are readily available at either or as well as many other places. It will of course also depend on where you are located.
