Try this :

Turn off and unplug the laptop from power

Remove the battery

Open the smallest door on the bottom of the computer with a #1 Phillips screw driver

Look for two small metal contacts labeled RTC(RST). Using a flat head screw driver, touch both contacts at the same time for 30 seconds.

Re-install the battery

Plug in your computer

I have the same problem and have tried all the very helpful solutions with no result. One change to this excellent advice help though is I read to touch the contacts (B500) with the flat blade screwdriver and then turn on the computer. I have tried this way and the way I explained with no result. YouTube was helpful but all the advice was for laptops unlike mine (Toshiba L305). Thank you all for trying but it looks like Toshiba wins again and they'll reset it for over 100 dollars. I'm still debating whether to do this.

That's why it is important to create a Toshiba free environment :-) I rank Toshiba currently as the most unfriendly and hostile company toward anyone trying to repair any off there products.
