Windows could not start / file is missing or corrupt?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1505. When I start it up , it says windows could not start because the file is missing or corrupt<windows root>system32 ntoskrnl.exe

Please reinstall a copy of the above file.

I have burned a copy of windows online and tried to use it, tried to set it back to a earlier time and nothing has worked. any suggestions?

Hi,

Instead of copying the file I would suggest you to reinstall windows to prevent any further damage.

Insert Windows bootable CD in your laptop optical drive and instead of new install go for repair windows.

Follow on screen instructions and finish install.

Remove the bootable CD and see if it still gives you error.

if it does then you have to install fresh windows copy on your laptop without opting for format drive.

Good Luck.

It seems that your OS has registry problem. Re-install your Windows with Re-partition your drives.
