Metal contact on power button holder?

Hello,

I recently did a repair which required replacing both the power button ribbon cable and the button holder (cast aluminium piece). The original holder has a golden metal contact which touches the tiny golden finger at the top of the motherboard. The replacement piece is missing this contact

What does it do? Is it important enough to replace again with one that has this metal contact?
