front glass panel only or full assembly

I would like to know if it's easier to change the Glass/LCD/Digitilizer assembly or just the front glass panel.

My Iphone 4 display and digitilizer still work, but the front glass is broken.

If I don't have to change them I won't.

the other side of the question is, I'm not sure that the LCD screen I can buy on ebay or amazon will be as clear and sharp than my original retina display.

it takes just as much time to sort out the 3 elements and stick them together/on and to get to the display to change it that I'd just go for the all in one. Price probably works out the same.
