Home button not working logic board fault

Hi all

I recently bought an iphone 4 that I'd been told was water damaged.

So after a new screen and a good clean with ipa it is all working, except the home button.

I then put the logic board over into another phone that I know as a fully working home button. But still it does not work.

So I can only assume its a logic board fault.

Has anyone had any experience with fixing this? Where should I start looking or concentrate more cleaning?

I've also put the logic board out of the working phone into the shell of the one at wasn't. And it works. So definitely the board.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Did you check if the ribbon cable on the home button is torn? If not, try cleaning the contacts on the ribbon cable and the connector. Could be water corrosion on either.

Thanks For your message. Like I say I have put board into a phone that I know for sure has a working home button, and still no response. So must be be board fault, not ribbon or connector.

What could of happened on the board?

have not seen this problem with a water damaged iPhone.

i would try an ultra sonic cleaner. if that still doesn't fix your problem, personally i would give up.

but there are definitely some people on here who know what to do next...

Hmmmm.... lets see the home button connects to the dock connector, so I would definitely start in that area on the logic board where the dock connector attaches...

the only problem with that is that you said everything else works, which would include charging and syncing...

thats so weird... and the worst part is that i think it could be a software glitch because the home button is dependent on parts that are functioning(charging and syncing) on the logic board so there is no fault at the connection...

just a suggestion, download an application called tinyumbrella... this could download the shsh's of current and prior updates on the iphone and save them(for restoration and jailbreaking purposes) and also kick the iphone in and out of recovery mode which would be major cool points for you since you are without a home button...

I would kick the iphone into recovery mode, thus allowing itunes to restore it with having to use your home button and see what happens...

if nothing works, kick it into recovery again and just jailbreak it lol... you can download a cydia app that would allow you to assign other buttons or finger actions the home button purpose... i hope this helped somewhat...
