Why is my phone not charging?

it makes the usual "im plugged in" sound. But it only keeps the phone alive, it doesn't charge at all. Please help me this is my only iPhone that i can get

Ashton Hutchins, how old is your battery. If you have not changed it, that is where I would start. Of course you also want to make sure that you use a known good cable, tried an AC adapter, a different USB port on your computer. And do not forget to clean your dock connector of any debris. If none of that works, replace the battery and see what you get. hope this helps, good luck.
