Hard Drive replacement? Have new hard drive.
Have new hard drive for my Macbook Pro..The old drive has been replaced without my knowledge by my ex who hacks computers for a living....Can I just put new drive in with out the use of the corrupted old drive?
Here are the parts I order from ifixit...
1. 750 GB 7200 RPM 2.5 " Hard Drive / Seagate
2. 750 GB 7200 RPM Seagate Hard Drive
3. PC3-8500 (2) 4GB RAM Chip/New

Thank you so much....Have new HD in and I have OS-X Install gray disk and Applications Install gray disk...I did all steps to install as new and at one point I did get the a file with a question mark and that was it . I went to next step in my everything Mac book manual and it had me restart holding down c key and power, now I have a Lock asking for password.... I do not have the password not sure what to do now...:( I also have all my other disk that came with my Mac just can't seem to get it up and running...I did buy two HD's .I thought if I messed up one no biggie I have a back up.... NEED YOUR HELP....:) Thank Kim Lim

You have a hardware password set on your system. You'll need to remove one on the memory modules to get it to reset. Give that a try. Once reset put the memory module back in.

Don't open the other drive as you should be able to return it.

Thats a good thing!! You have a blank HD that now needs the OS installed. Now put the grey Apple logo'ed CD/DVD into your optical drive and restart it. The system will then boot up using the OS on the CD/DVD and you should be greeted with a little welcome movie and then you will be asked some Q's to then install the OS.
