How do I fix an intermitent screen problem?

The top 1/4 of the screen will show legibly, but with multiple missing lines. The bottom 3/4 is dim with many fine lines. When I reboot the device it sometimes comes back with good display. Sometimes not. If I wait a few hours to days, it will come back on it's own. Note that the device will still sync to computer and play audio even when the screen is malfunctioning.

Mabe that your display pixels are dying, or mabe is it just the connector. In any case, if your device is still under warranty (I obviously don't think so for a 5th gen iPod), bring it back to the closest Apple Store Genius Bar.

Then, if it is not, I recommend you to own a new display. You will easily be able to replace it yourself by following the following links.
