Changing wireless router antenna connectors

I do not like the factory wireless card and bought a Killer Wireless-N 1202 card to replace it. But I ran into a snag.

The antenna connectors on the intel card are these tiny little m.fl connectors. The Killer card is the more robust u.fl connectors. So, the factory antenna female parts are not big enough for the male parts (haha).

My question is:

Can I cut off the tiny m.fl female connectors and solder on a u.fl antenna connector?

Are the antennas on the two the same inside?

Any advice would be helpful. Many thanks.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Not yet..... I am scared to cut it up...

I bought some antennas (to splice onto the installed wires) but I think I might follow the tear-down and just replace the whole antenna. But that is..... scary....

As far as I know, all of the zenbooks have this card. They know it sucks but keep it. Probably because it is cheap.

I got the u.fl from amazon. I have not cut the m.fl connectors off yet. Waiting for an answer before I proceed.

guess no one knows.

Any chance you found a solution to this problem? I'd like to do the same thing!

Where did you get the new antenaes?

I wanted to try to make a converting pigtail, but I can't even find m.fl parts for the original card. Wish someone from intel could tell me why they decided to be different this one time.
